Mission Accomplished

In 2023, I was driving along the Dnipro–Kamianske highway when I saw a dog lying by the roadside. It’s a busy, high-speed road, and animals have almost no chance of surviving there. A rope was trailing behind her, and I immediately stopped and ran toward her.

What I saw shocked me.

She was extremely thin and exhausted. She was so weak that she could barely move. Her mammary glands were swollen — it was obvious that she had given birth quite recently.

There was a rope around her neck, dragging behind her. It seemed that someone had simply driven her somewhere far away, tied her up by the highway, and left her there to die. But she managed to chew through the rope and escape.

She showed absolutely no aggression. She just looked at me… exhausted, hungry, thirsty, and frightened.

I put her in my car and took her straight to a veterinary clinic. She received the treatment and care she needed, and that was the beginning of her new life.

She spent almost three years in my shelter. Unfortunately, very few people were willing to give her a home. And then we discovered that she also had heartworm disease.

Sadly, heartworm is a condition that affects many animals. But it does not mean the end of a normal life. She remained active, gentle, loving, and incredibly attached to people.

We kept searching for a family for her. We searched for a long time. And finally, this year, the thing I had been waiting and hoping for happened.

She found her family. ❤️

Now she is surrounded by people who love her, value her, and are ready to take care of her health. People who will never abandon her again.

And today, I can finally say: my mission in her life is complete.

Once, she was lying by the side of a highway, tied with a rope and left there to die.

Today, she has a home, love, and her own place in this world.

This is why we keep rescuing. Because sometimes, to one little soul, you can become the whole world. 🐾❤️
