1. General Provisions
1.1. This Privacy Policy (hereinafter — the “Policy”) defines the procedure for the collection, storage, use, disclosure, and protection of personal data that You provide while using the website https://favoriteanimals.org/ (hereinafter — the “Website”), owned by the Public Organization “FAVORITE ANIMAL”.
1.2. The owner of the personal data is the Public Organization “FAVORITE ANIMAL” (hereinafter — the “Organization”, “we”, “us”):

1.3. The Organization is a non-profit charitable community — an animal shelter whose purpose is to rescue, temporarily house, and place animals in new families (adoption).
1.4. Personal data processing is carried out in accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine, the Law of Ukraine “On Personal Data Protection” dated June 1, 2010, No. 2297-VI (hereinafter — the “Law”), other legislation of Ukraine in the field of personal data protection, as well as taking into account the principles of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), where applicable.
1.5. By using the Website and submitting an application through the animal reservation form, You confirm that You have read this Policy, agree to it, and provide the Organization with consent to process Your personal data under the terms set out below. If You do not agree with the Policy, please do not submit an application.
2. What Personal Data We Collect
2.1. The Organization deliberately minimizes the amount of personal data and collects it only to the extent necessary to review an application for the reservation and adoption of an animal.
2.2. Personal data is collected exclusively at the moment You submit an application to reserve an animal through the form on the Website. The form requires the following data:
- Name — to address You and identify the application;
- Country — to understand Your location and the possibility of placing the animal with You;
- Contact details — at Your choice: telephone number, email address, username on a social network or messenger, or a link to Your social media profile — for communication regarding the application;
- Application comment (optional) — any text You may add. Please do not include excessive personal data or particularly sensitive information in the comment unless it is necessary.
2.3. Providing personal data is voluntary. However, without providing a name and at least one means of contact, we will not be able to process Your application or contact You.
2.4. The Organization does not collect payment information, identity document information, or any other data not specified in clause 2.2 through the application form.
2.5. We do not collect personal data from persons under 18 years of age. If You are a minor, please do not submit an application without the consent and participation of an adult legal representative.
3. Legal Basis and Purpose of Processing
3.1. The legal basis for processing Your personal data is Your consent, which You provide by checking the box confirming Your agreement with this Policy in the application form. Without checking this box, the form cannot be submitted.
3.2. Your personal data is processed exclusively for the following purposes:
- receiving, reviewing, and processing an application to reserve an animal;
- contacting You to clarify information and agree on the terms and process of the animal’s adoption;
- keeping records of applications and communications related to the placement of animals;
- fulfilling the Organization’s obligations related to the adoption of an animal.
3.3. We do not use Your personal data for marketing communications, advertising, profiling, or automated decision-making that produces legal effects concerning You without Your separate consent.
4. Transfer of Personal Data to Third Parties
4.1. The Organization does not sell, rent, or transfer Your personal data to third parties for commercial purposes.
4.2. Your personal data is accessible only to authorized representatives (volunteers and employees) of the Organization who participate in processing applications and are required to maintain confidentiality.
4.3. Personal data may be transferred to third parties exclusively in the following cases:
- at the request of government authorities, courts, or law enforcement agencies in cases provided for by law and within the scope of their powers;
- when expressly required by applicable Ukrainian legislation;
- where You have provided separate consent to such transfer.
4.4. The technical operation of the Website is provided by cloud service providers that act as personal data processors and process data solely on behalf of the Organization, within the scope determined by it and for the purposes specified in Section 3 of this Policy. The Organization engages the following processors:
- Google Cloud Run (a Google Cloud Platform service provided by companies within the Google group) — hosting the server-side part of the Website and processing incoming requests, including data You submit through the application form. Hosting region: europe-west1 (Belgium);
- Neon (a managed PostgreSQL database service owned by the Databricks group) — storing Your application data in the database. Hosting region: AWS eu-central-1 (Frankfurt, Germany).
4.5. The engagement of the above-mentioned processors is based on agreements concluded with them (terms of service and data processing addenda), which require them to ensure the confidentiality and security of personal data, process it only according to the Organization’s instructions, and not use it for their own purposes.
4.6. Cross-border transfer. Since the aforementioned providers are foreign companies, Your personal data is processed outside Ukraine — on servers located in the regions specified in clause 4.4. Pursuant to Article 29 of the Law of Ukraine “On Personal Data Protection”, the states that are members of the European Economic Area and states that have signed the Council of Europe Convention for the Protection of Individuals with regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data are recognized as providing an adequate level of personal data protection; therefore, the transfer of data to such states is lawful.
4.7. If data processing takes place in a region outside the states specified in clause 4.6 (including the United States of America), the basis for such cross-border transfer is Your explicit consent, provided by checking the box in the application form, as well as the necessity of performing a contract concluded in Your interests. Such providers apply standard contractual clauses and other data protection measures.
4.8. The Organization does not transfer personal data to any other third parties, except in the cases expressly specified in clauses 4.3–4.4 of this Policy.
5. Retention Period for Personal Data
5.1. Your personal data is stored for the period necessary to achieve the purposes of its processing, namely for the duration of the application review and the animal adoption process.
5.2. After the application review is completed (including in the event that You decline to adopt), the data is retained for no longer than 12 months, after which it is deleted or anonymized, except where a longer retention period is required by law.
5.3. You may withdraw Your consent and request the deletion of Your personal data at any time (see Sections 6 and 7).
6. Rights of the Data Subject
6.1. Pursuant to Article 8 of the Law of Ukraine “On Personal Data Protection”, You have the right to:
- know the sources from which Your personal data was collected, the location of Your personal data, the purpose of its processing, and the location of the owner or processor of the personal data;
- receive information about the conditions for granting access to personal data, including information about third parties to whom Your data is transferred;
- access Your personal data;
- receive, no later than 30 calendar days from the date of receipt of a request, a response as to whether Your personal data is being processed, as well as receive the content of such data;
- submit a reasoned request to the owner of the personal data objecting to the processing of Your personal data;
- submit a reasoned request to amend or destroy Your personal data if such data is processed unlawfully or is inaccurate;
- have Your personal data protected against unlawful processing and accidental loss, destruction, or damage, as well as against unlawful provision or dissemination of the data;
- submit complaints regarding the processing of Your personal data to the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights or to a court;
- use legal remedies in the event of a violation of personal data protection legislation;
- make reservations concerning the restriction of the right to process Your personal data when providing consent;
- withdraw Your consent to the processing of personal data;
- know the mechanism of automated processing of personal data;
- be protected against an automated decision that has legal consequences for You.
6.2. To exercise Your rights, You may contact the Organization using the contact details specified in Section 8 of this Policy.
7. Withdrawal of Consent and Data Deletion
7.1. You have the right to withdraw Your consent to the processing of personal data at any time by sending a corresponding request to [vikbelm816@gmail.com] or by using the other contact details specified in Section 8.
7.2. Upon receiving Your request to withdraw consent and/or delete data, we will cease processing and delete Your personal data, except where its retention is required by law. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before such withdrawal.

8.2. You also have the right to submit a complaint to the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman), the authority responsible for monitoring compliance with personal data protection legislation.
9. Cookies and Technical Data
9.1. The Website uses only technical (necessary) cookies required for the basic operation of the Website and the correct display of its pages. Such cookies are not used to track Your behavior, for advertising, or for analytics.
9.2. You can configure Your browser to reject cookies; however, this may affect the proper operation of certain Website functions.
9.3. The Organization does not use third-party web analytics systems or advertising tracking tools on the Website. If this approach changes, the relevant provisions will be added to this Policy.
10. Personal Data Protection
10.1. The Organization takes organizational and technical measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, loss, or destruction, including limiting the number of persons who have access to the data and applying reasonable security measures.
10.2. Despite the measures taken, no method of transmitting data over the Internet is completely secure. Therefore, the Organization cannot guarantee absolute data security, but makes every reasonable effort to protect it.
11. Changes to the Privacy Policy
11.1. The Organization reserves the right to periodically update this Policy. The current version is always published on this Website page, together with the date on which it becomes effective.
11.2. We recommend that You review this page periodically. Continued use of the Website after changes have been made constitutes Your consent to the updated version of the Policy.
This Privacy Policy concerns exclusively the processing of personal data and does not govern the terms of animal adoption, which are determined by separate “Adoption Rules”.
