💔 Meet Ryzhyk — our handsome old boy who survived terrible human cruelty.

He was brought to us from another city. Ryzhyk was shot at, multiple times. One of the bullets hit his spine and paralyzed him. He lay in one position, unable to get up and barely able to move. The chances were extremely slim, but we couldn't give up on the only chance to save him.

Ryzhyk underwent complex spinal surgery. Part of the damaged tissue and discs had to be removed. And he persevered! Today, our boy walks and even runs on his own, albeit a bit clumsily. The consequences of the injury will stay with him forever, but the most important thing is that he is alive and didn't give up.

Ryzhyk is about 10 years old. In addition to the severe injury, he was diagnosed with dirofilariasis. Due to his health condition and the high risks of anesthesia, he has not been neutered for medical reasons. Even the spinal surgery could have been his last, but without it, he simply wouldn't have survived.

Ryzhyk didn't just suffer at the hands of people — someone tried to kill him. Yet despite everything he has endured, he deserves to spend his golden years not in a shelter, but beside a loving person: in warmth, peace, and safety.
